Projects

There are many different projects that aim to strength clam and mussel fisheries across Maine and Wabanaki coastal regions and communities. The Applied Shellfish Project Profiles intend to summarize activities and share contact information so others can reach out and learn more about these important efforts.

We also describe the co-management system because this is an important context for this work. In many cases, the requirements in the municipal co-management system, such as having a shellfish ordinance, meeting as a shellfish committee, and advancing conservation efforts, helps make these applied shellfish projects possible. The MSLN has developed and collected technical briefs, scientific resources and databases, as well as developed water quality decision support information.
