Maine’s mudflats have been home to clam harvesters for thousands of years. In this section, we hope to thoroughly explore the different aspects of clamming as a culture. First, we highlight the history of clamming in Maine, tracking the story of shellfish and people from early Wabanaki practices to the current clam industry. Later sections on Clam Cam and Shellfish Focus day should create more visibility for current clamming practices and projects. We also highlight news in and around Maine’s industry and share photos taken at MSLN events.
